Malaysia International Fashion Week (M-IFW) is the country’s premier fashion event featuring well-known foreign and local designers, and showcasing emerging talent from Malaysia. In 2003, Ms. Syeba pioneered the idea of the dedicated week-long fashion event to develop local fashion and promote fashion tourism and trade.
Since its debut M-IFW has become a yearly fixture in global fashion calendars, attracting regional fashion players, international media, fashion buyers and tourists. It is also widely supported in Malaysia by the local industry, government bodies, prominent figures, corporations, media and public. In 2006, the Islamic Fashion Festival was introduced as part of fashion week.
Although a glamorous affair, M-IFW extends beyond fashion shows, exhibitions and galas; it is the only event that helps establish and develop local talents. Fashion week provides designers with the platform to build their business by connecting with buyers, media and high profile clientele. In recent years, regional designers showing their collections at M-IFW have also reaped similar benefits. |
